A family relative says Carlos Ramon Carranza, 39, and Luis Eduardo Carranza, 26, had just moved to the U.S. five years ago from El Salvador to start a new business.
The two men lost power during the winter storm that hit Maryland on Jan. 3, and tried to heat up their home using an electric generator, authorities said. That's when a neighbor alerted authorities to a strong scent of fuel.
The two brothers fell asleep and according to officials never woke up, they died at around 4:00 p.m on Jan. 4. Prince George's County Police are investigating the deaths.
